Shadows of Evil
Intel Brief
Four sinners in a rain-soaked noir city are manipulated by the Shadow Man to fulfill an ancient Apothicon ritual — whether they want to or not.
Setup Guide
Power
- Power in SOE is district-based: use Beast Mode to zap fuse boxes next to each perk machine and key shortcuts.
- Open Beast shortcuts in Junction, Canals, Waterfront, Footlight, and Rift to massively reduce setup time.
- Keep one Beast charge available each round for utility (new gate, sword statues, or emergency revival route).
Pack-a-Punch Location
Undercroft after all district rituals and gate unlock.
Accessing Pack-a-Punch
- Collect Summoning Key in spawn (break box in Beast Mode).
- Collect four ritual items and complete all four district rituals for Gateworms.
- In the Rift, enter Beast Mode and open the hidden chamber wall to expose ritual portal network.
- Place all four Gateworms in the central ritual room and complete final Pack-a-Punch ritual.
Rocket Shield
SOE shield with rocket-boost attack. One of the most important survival tools in district rotations and boss prep.
Apothicon Servant
Map wonder weapon built from three parts. Required for smooth high-round control and several EE phases.
The Giant's Defeat
SOLO OKShadows quest flow: full ritual unlock, sword progression, flag escort cycle, Shadowman trap, then optional 4-player finale closeout.
Collect all ritual items, complete all district rituals, then perform the central ritual in the Rift to trigger apocalyptic skybox state.
Reveal sword chamber, charge Arch-Ovum at four statue boxes, then complete red ritual circles and claim upgraded sword at your character ritual room.
Begin flag rounds from Rift, protect the flag at lightning ritual spots in set order, and deliver charge to ritual tables across multiple cycles.
Start boss by activating all keepers in PaP room, break Shadowman shield with Summoning Key throws, and trap him in key at ritual altar. Four-player worm step is required for in-game completion gateworm icon.
Field Strategies
- Beast-mode route planning saves multiple rounds in early setup.
- Civil Protector and sword upgrades reduce revive-risk in late midgame.
- Keep one player focused on objective pathing while others stabilize waves.
Special Enemies
Flying bug-like creatures that appear mid-round from round 6 onward. They swarm in groups and home in on players, dealing rapid chip damage. They are easy to kill but dangerous in numbers while you are also managing a zombie train.
TIP Burst them down quickly before they cluster. An upgraded weapon with splash damage or the Apothicon Servant is extremely effective against Parasite swarms.
A massive three-headed monster that spawns after you kill 9 ritual zombies (or on later rounds randomly). Each of its three heads has an independent health bar - when a head is glowing, it is vulnerable. When all three are destroyed the Margwa is killed.
TIP Circle the Margwa and focus fire on whichever head is currently glowing. The Apothicon Servant can drain all three heads rapidly. Do not run past it - it has a wide swipe.
Beast Shortcut Power Route
Grapple to Nero loft and zap fuse to permanently open spawn-to-Nero stairs.
Use Canals grapple path and zap the fuse in red room route to unlock that staircase.
Grapple up in Waterfront and zap roof-side fuse to unlock fast staircase route.
